Normal (Vaginal) Delivery
Natural, Safe, and Encouraged When Possible
A normal or vaginal delivery is when the baby is born through the birth canal without the need for surgery. It is usually the safest and quickest recovery option for both mother and baby.
Benefits of Normal Delivery:
- Faster recovery time
- Shorter hospital stay
- Lower risk of infections and complications
- Encourages early bonding and Encourages early bonding and breastfeeding
We provide pain relief options like epidurals and natural pain management techniques to make the process as comfortable as possible. Our team will monitor you and your baby closely throughout labor and delivery.
Assisted Delivery
Extra Help When Labor Needs a Little Support
Sometimes during vaginal delivery, extra assistance is needed to help guide the baby out safely. This may be due to prolonged labor, exhaustion, or if the baby shows signs of distress
We may use:
- Forceps – A special instrument to gently guide the baby’s head
- Vacuum (Ventouse) – A suction cup to help the baby come out during contractions
Why Assisted Delivery Might Be Needed:
- Labor is not progressing
- Baby is in a difficult position
- You are too tired to continue pushing
- Baby’s heart rate indicates distress
Requirements That Must Be Met Before Use:
- Cervix is fully dilated
- Baby’s head is engaged and low in the pelvis
- Exact position of the baby’s head is known
- Mother has an empty bladder
- No cephalopelvic disproportion (baby’s head too big for pelvis)
- No bleeding disorders or contraindications
Our priority is always your and your baby’s safety. These techniques are only used when absolutely necessary and with your full understanding and consent.
Cesarean Section (C-Section)
A Safe Surgical Option for Delivery
A C-section is a surgical procedure where the baby is delivered through an incision made in the mother’s abdomen and uterus. It may be planned (elective) or done in an emergency if complications arise during labor.
Common Reasons for C-Section:
- Baby is not in the head-down position (e.g. breech)
- Previous C-section or uterine surgery
- Placenta issues (e.g. placenta previa)
- Multiple babies (twins or more)
- Labor not progressing or medical emergency
C-sections are very safe and commonly performed. Recovery usually takes a bit longer than vaginal birth, but we will guide you through the healing process and provide all necessary postnatal care.
